Why I like MC Hot Dog
The first time I came across his music was in 2001, first year of varsity. Everyone around me thought I was weird to listen to his songs. I think it was because that half of his songs were swear words or are of vulgarness. But I just loved them cos like A-Yue’s songs, they are his true words! So my friends thought that a girl shouldn’t be listening to songs like these.
But MC Hot Dog succeeded from being an underground rapper to becoming an award winning artist for the best Mandarin album during 2007’s Golden Melody Award in Taiwan. I believe many people, even up till today, still couldn’t believe it that he won the prize! But I think he deserves it a lot! The judges finally has opened their eyes and take in something real, for once :)
MC Hot Dog may look like a gangster who raps, but in person he reminds my of my little brother :) although MC Hot Dog is way older than my brother. I’ve heard many people say that being a rapper isn’t just about “yo yo yo”, being a hip hop admirer isn’t just about “wearing your pants half way across your butt”. I think it’s all about the spirit and the attitude. Being shy off of the stage but a star when holding the mic, performing on stage. That is the MC Hot Dog I see through my eyes.
